When a full-time Borough employee is injured in the line of duty, the Mayor and Council may pass a resolution giving the employee up to one year's leave of absence with pay. The determination of whether such leave is granted is committed to the sole and exclusive discretion of the governing body. When such action is taken, the employee shall not be charged any sick time for time lost due to such particular injury. An employee who is hurt in the line of duty is covered by the Workers' Compensation Laws of the State of New Jersey. Absence resulting from work-related illness or injury incurred during employment and covered by the Workers' Compensation Laws of New Jersey shall not be charged against sick leave. During such absence, an employee's salary shall be the difference between his or her regular salary and the amount received from workers' compensation.
